Dear Fellow Creative,
I think most everyone has a favorite book in their library, and THIS one is mine. I've had it for years. It's well-worn; the kind of book you can tell has been thumbed through more than a few times. There's coffee stains on it, and the binding has split over time.

Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, by Betty Edwards
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain Workbook, by Betty Edwards
I believe a good drawing is the start of any great art project, and this will help you get started!
It's a treasure trove of information, and whether you are an experienced artist or just starting out, this book can make you a better one. I think you'll be inspired the moment you open it up. It gives the reader a fascinating insight into opening your mind to approaching your next drawing project.
This book covers topics such as drawing on your memories, perceiving positive and negative shapes, proportion, portrait drawing, and perceiving shadows and light.
You don't need to read the chapters in any particular order. You can dive right into any of the topics that are covered to help you wherever you are on your art journey. I use mine all the time when I need a quick refresh or reminder to keep me on track if I'm struggling with something in particular. Sometimes that little bit of FOCUS gets me back on track.
Do you have a favorite book you'd like to share? What's on your wishlist?
Let me know in the comments below. I'd love to see your recommendations as well.
As always, stay inspired and create!
Debra
